I have been following this project since it was first mooted. I even wrote to them in the early stages suggesting that the docking facilities should be as big as possible to cope with the larger ships that will be coming. I hope they have taken note.

Its a military dock as well and I am sure the Naval ships will get a lot bigger in years to come as well. As far as a terminal is concerned , all that is needed is a shelter in case of rain, or to protect from the sun , as Townsville will always be a Port of Call as opposed to a turnaround port.

 

I would like to see both Townsville and Cairns as ports where the big cruise ships can dock and passengers can just walk ashore.......we might then see more coastal cruising being offered.

Will not help the area, yet. No use being completed in October this year when itineraries have been organised for 2013 and 2014 already.
