Flew From Stanstead

Left home in plenty time to park car at the airport and check in for our flight at 8.05 am.Quickly processed at check in, waiting on a departure gate announcement.

Flight was on time and no drama.

On arrival at Palma, collected our luggage, found a Thomson rep boarded our coach and off on the short journey to the port.

At the port, given a choice of refreshment, collected our envelope, joined the queue then quickly processed.

Picture taken, then on the way to place our stickers on our suitcases.

Time to embark middle of the ship onto Deck 6..we were staying on Deck 4.

On the way was greeted by our extremely friendly cabin steward ATHEN.This being our first time on the Dream and having seen pictures of the partial refurb of the cabins we kinda knew what to expect when we opened the cabin door room 4033, not disappointed.Large cabin, clean and tidy with new carpet, new bedding,tea/coffee,new two seater settee.

The bedroom furniture a bit dated but plenty of hanging space and shelves.

Our room was a STD room but did have a Bath!!

Our cabin was cleaned twice a day and we had towel art of an elephant on day 3.

The Dream overall!

Every cabin crew member, bar staff and canteen and restaurant staff were smiling and a greet of morning or afternoon every time you passed them.

The ship was clean and tidy, staff members busy with mops or dusters.

Food

Lido food here was good, no issues with hot food not been hot!

great salad selection.

if your a vegetarian then don't worry, enough food and variety to suit most tastes.

on deck fries, hotdog or burgers, omelettes at breakfast all good.

Sirens as Lido

Orion here your treated to first class service and a great menu changed daily for breakfast Lunch or evening meal.

And a menu adjustment for one of our party was no problem, they aim to please.

Broadway lounge

Good varied range of shows through the week, and a comedian on Wednesday evening to break the flow.

young show team with an average age of 22 all put on a great show.

from the Killer Queen show on day one to Michael Jackson Man in the Mirror on the last night.

The one area of concern was the seating in all the lounge areas at the peak evening period.

come out of the Broadway Show to no seating most nights. not a great way to end the night!

Ports Of Call

Tripani

if not doing a coach trip then this is a bit of a disappointment.

not overall a pretty stop off.

Sorrento

Beautiful picturesque and Stunning.. enough said!

Rome

well we did pick the wrong week to go to Rome, the Pope addressing the masses, extra 70k people in the city,

so we had a bit of a stressful time with open top bus stops not in use and too many crowds ( not Thomsons fault here)

Calvi

as Sorrento ( bit pricey in the shops)

Palmas

nice walk along the sea front and a jug of sangria, then back on board as this was a short stop.

Palma

off the ship at 11 and onward to our 3 day break in hotel.

Now for the bad bits.

announced the NV outbreak in past weeks on arrival by a printed notice in room, we had already been made aware through CC.

so Jacuzzi closed, pools closed on day 2, library and gym closed on day 5.

if this is due to contact with books or gym equipment then why was the casino and slot machines kept open??

sunbed hoggers time and time again sunbeds had towels on and no one occupying for hours. this is very annoying to people on sundeck towel in hand no beds to hand.

The Dream

Overall we loved our holiday on the Dream,

yes she is an older ship but this is part of her appeal, a true shaped and good looking cruise liner of days past, not a tower block on the ocean.

Thomson need to understand the CREW make the Dream what she is.

hard working always cheerful and helping to make us the fare paying holiday makers have a great time.

looking forward to planning our next adventure.

Great review, thanks. Just over 6 weeks before we are on the same cruise.

Just need to sort out which Rome trip to do.

We are planning Erice, a Rome trip & the water park from Palamos. The 2 tender ports look too scenic to take trips from.
