surfcitygirl Posted July 12, 2013 #1 Share Posted July 12, 2013 Pleasant cruise port excursion For those of you stopping in Kiel for the day and not wishing to go a long way to Hamburg or Lubeck, a great half day excursion is the Open Air Museum in Molfsee. It doesn't really show up when you search for Kiel. It's just a 15 minute bus ride from downtown Kiel. It has loads of very old buildings reconstructed there from all around Germany, from simple farmers homes and barns to those of wealthier merchants. All in a beautiful setting. From the cruise terminal, cross the street by the park, take Bus 32 into downtown until the bus transfer station - Hauptbahnhoff. Then hop on Bus 501 which stops right at the Frelichtsmuseum (Open Air Museum). Recommended it to others on our cruise and they thought it well worth the trip.
