Promenade (deck 5) aft balcony on Sunshine

Hi everyone,

I have looked and looked and I cannot find my answer so I am hoping someone can help me out. I am interested in booking an aft balcony on the Sunshine for March 2014. I am a bit concerned because aft balcony are usually hard to come by and right now almost all of them are still available on deck 5 (I think the other decks are sold out but maybe I can't book them since they are for 2 people only). Is there something bad about the ones on deck 5? It is above the dining room so maybe food smells??

We are booked on the Dream right now, but we are considering switching to the Sunshine. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

I sure hope there's nothing wrong with the AFT balconies on Deck 5. I've booked a Corner Aft Balcony/Suite on Deck 5 for Sept 2014.

I have the opposite experience, I wanted to book an extended aft on deck 5, and deck 5 was full, they ony had rooms on the deck 6. Deck 5 has the ocean plaza and casino, so I thought it would be a good location. May just get a regular balcony on the Lido deck.

Thanks for the responses for so. I guess I didn't think about them being so new. That's probably why I am not finding any information.

If anyone comes across this post and has experience with these rooms, please let me know what you thought of them if you don't mind.

Another possible "issue" could be that originally these were sold as category 9C aft corner balcony cabins with a wrap around balcony. But they were changed to OS category and no longer have a wrap around balcony and now have a separate bedroom which is where you access the balcony. So from the living space of the cabin you essentially have no view. I'm sure this turned some off to the cabins. I'm one who booked it as it was originally offered, but I've never had an aft so I would know what I'm missing I guess. I'll find out how it is Nov. 18!!

I was in a deck 5 outside cabin in 5332 and 5336.

With those cabin so far back we did not hear the noise from the alchemy bar, elevator lobby, or the lounge there which may be an issue for cabins that were closer.

The casino is a good distance away so that does not bother these rooms. The only issue if you are on deck 5 you would have to walk through the casino to get to these cabins. The smoke clouds were not that bad.

The Taste Bar had a limited breakfast buffet in the morning with some hot and cold things along with a juice and coffee bar. This made it much easier than having to go up to Lido Mktplace or the MDR.

The only noise issue is 5 minutes at 7:15 and 9:15 when the MDR staff do their dance show each night and they blast the music.
