Yes you will need them starting 12/31/2005 ! http://www.travel.state.gov/travel/cbpmc/cbpmc_2224.html December 31, 2005 – Passport or other accepted document required for all travel (air/sea) to or from the Caribbean, Bermuda, Central and South America. December 31, 2006 – Passport or other accepted document required for all air and sea travel to or from Mexico and Canada.
Jim Gallup Posted July 5, 2005 #3 Share Posted July 5, 2005 Actually, passports will not be required FOR the Bahamas - but they will be required by US Authorities - for anyone returning to the USA FROM the Bahamas.
WazAnOkie Posted July 5, 2005 #4 Share Posted July 5, 2005 If you are planning a trip for next year, you may want to look into getting the passports soon. Since it looks like it will be required starting the first of next year, there will most likely be a flood of last minute applications and could take a lot longer to obtain them... The cost of passports is a gamble, they could go up in cost later, or possibly go down in cost (yeah, right  ).... Since the cruise lines have to abide by immigration laws, with documentation to prove it, they will not allow passengers to board without documentation needed to re-enter the country.
