CrispyRice Posted September 4, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 4, 2013 The reverse question of the one I see more often. I took a guarantee verandah and am very happy with what I got. We're still nearly 3 months from sailing, and they assigned it immediately after I booked. They won't take it back and change it between now and sailing, will they? :) Thanks! buzzybuzzbuzz Posted September 4, 2013 #2 Share Posted September 4, 2013 Usually no, but they can if they want! I have heard of people turing up at the port to find their GTY has been changed. It is usually worth the risk for the price.
CrispyRice Posted September 4, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted September 4, 2013 Ok, thanks! I'll hope for the best! :) And, yes, it was worth it for the price.

Redtravel Posted September 6, 2013 #5 Share Posted September 6, 2013 Anything can happen. I was assigned and then reassigned a cabin 3 times on a cruise on the Millenium. Each time, the cabin improved. I have also had experiences where I was assigned a cabin within a week of booking and have waited until a day prior to sailing. ...Got a nice upgrade. Usually when I book a gty cabin, I get the category that I booked without any upgrades. It can be in a less desirable location. If you save a lot of money by booking a gty instead of a specific cabin, it may be worth the gamble. Never book a gty in a category that you would hate. Even an assigned cabin can be changed by the cruise line. Many years ago, I booked a specific cabin in a great location. When the final pay,net was due, I noticed that the cabin had been changed. Same category in a bad location. I questioned the relocation. The TA that did the booking had held my deposit money too long. The cruise line released my cabin. When the TA finally gave Celebrity my deposit money, the only cabins left were in bad locations. I cancelled the cruise. I also learned from my mistake. Never pay a TA with a personal check. Use a credit card...and make sure that The cruise line gets the deposit. Call the cruise line....or with Celebrity check your booking online. Good luck with your gty. Most of the time, I have been happy with my cabin.
