snorkeling in Sea of Cortez

We'll be in Loreto in early February. I've read here that water conditions may be too cool and murky for decent snorkeling. But most of the comments have been about Cabo. What about further north in the Sea of Cortez?

Been there twice and could only find snorkeling at Isla Coronado, a few miles from Loreto. You can rent a panga and captain where the tenders come in. Snorkeling is only so so but the water is beautiful and the beach they stop at is nice. We did run into a huge pod of dolphin on the way there once and that was a once in a lifetime experience for sure.
