PyrHeaven Posted September 30, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 30, 2013 I've been to Nassau 3 times but Ive always done excursions through the ship or stayed near the straw market. I'd like to venture out a bit and plan my own free excursion. Can someone tell me how much walking would be involved/how far apart we would be from ship to John Watlings to Junkanoo Beach? My 3yr old son will be with, so I'd like to avoid taxi if possible. Thanks! Sent from my SGH-M919 using Forums mobile app
Rare CruisinCrow Posted September 30, 2013 #2 Share Posted September 30, 2013 According to Google maps, the distance between Festival Place (the cruise terminal) and the distillery is 3/4 mile and it is uphill. It took us about 15 minutes, but we weren't carrying a 3-year-old and a beach bag. Just wondering why you are taking a 3-year-old to a distillery. :) Getting from John Watling's to Junkanoo will be easier, about half a mile and downhill. PyrHeaven Posted October 1, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted October 1, 2013 Perfect! Thanks for the information. I think we will be able to walk it. My son will be in a stroller. That's a very good question regarding why we are bringing our 3 yr old. Its funny because I've never even thought twice about it, but I can see why it might be weird to some. We are from Wisconsin.....where you can take your child with you to the corner bar Lol Please Note: I have never done this and never will!! We love brewery/winery/distillery tours. It's always fun to hear about the history behind the brand and how they make and bottle everything. I've heard the tour isnt very long, so definitely doable with my son. He's been to several other similar tours. Sent from my SGH-M919 using Forums mobile app
Rare CruisinCrow Posted October 1, 2013 #4 Share Posted October 1, 2013 It's true, the tour isn't very long. You'll get to taste each of the 3 rums and walk through the warehouse. The estate where the distillery is located has a lot of history. Our tour guide told us that the bar area was used as the poker room in the James Bond movie, Casino Royale. Now I'll have to pull out our DVD and watch it again. :) Get a mojito at the bar before you walk down to the beach. Excellent!
