BIG_Steve Posted October 2, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 2, 2013 A couple of weeks ago, someone posted a thread here. They weren't pleased with CCL, and they mentioned that they had an OBC on their account. They said they didn't find out until the morning of disembarkation that the credit could not be used for tips. That's the first I've ever heard of anything like that. We just transferred our booking from CCL to a TA, and picked up a $250.00 OBC from the TA in the process. So my question should be obvious, can the OBC be used for tips or not? If not, we'll have to figure out some other way to spend it. I'll ask the TA, but sometimes you get the most up to minute news on changes and policies here.
mykindaparty Posted October 2, 2013 #2 Share Posted October 2, 2013 We had lots of onboard credit on our last cruise and some was listed as refundable and some wasn't. We asked and guest service said no it couldn't be used to pay tips, so we went to the casino and sat down at a slot machine put my card in and took the obc and put it on the card as cash then went to the window and told them I needed to cash out. They gave me all mine in cash. Then I could do with it what I wanted.
98Charlie Posted October 2, 2013 #3 Share Posted October 2, 2013 Last cruise (Conquest Sept 2013) I had $200 non-refundable and $108.36 refundable OBC's. Ended up with a $4.00 credit that Carnival sends to St. Jude's (when the credit is $5 or less). So the service grats were covered. Best to check beforehand and know how the TA's OBC will be applied. Swayde Posted October 2, 2013 #4 Share Posted October 2, 2013 My OBC has always been refundable from price drops so we have been able to use it for tips.
