Aussie Claire Posted October 4, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 4, 2013 Are the convertible sofa beds on the Solstice Class ships (Equinox) comfortable and suitable for an adult to sleep on.

jenniebnyc Posted October 4, 2013 #3 Share Posted October 4, 2013 Sky Suites have a large sofa that turns into a bed. I had the stewardess make up the bed with an egg crate topper every night and it was fine. AQ cabins do not have a sleeper sofa in the rooms to my knowledge. Iamthesea Posted October 4, 2013 #4 Share Posted October 4, 2013 AQ's only sleep 2 persons, but the sofa is so large that one could sleep on it. It does not fold out. It's more of a convertabed.
TKS Posted October 4, 2013 #5 Share Posted October 4, 2013 I love reading and spent a couple afternoons reading/snoozing on the sofa bed in our concierge class cabin aboard Solstice. It was quite comfortable and large enough for the average adult.
phoenix_dream Posted October 4, 2013 #6 Share Posted October 4, 2013 I don't agree. They aren't awful like on M class but I think 'comfortable' is stretching it. For me at 5'6" and a bit overweight they were ok , just. For my 6' 200+lb son they were not that great.
FortyNinerLiz Posted October 5, 2013 #7 Share Posted October 5, 2013 Are the convertible sofa beds on the Solstice Class ships (Equinox) comfortable and suitable for an adult to sleep on. They are just like pull out beds in sofas.............You can make your judgement from that..... If you do not pull them out, they are very 'slick" for sleeping. Just observing................... Iamthesea Posted October 5, 2013 #8 Share Posted October 5, 2013 Not all the sofas on the Solstice class are slick. The Silhouette's sofas are cloth. Here are a couple of photos of the convertabeds onboard Solstice class ships. The first shows the bottom part of bed pulled out for 2 sleepers. I didn't even know the sofas had this. Thought they only slept one and then a 4th bed came down as a bunk from the ceiling. I have to say that the pull out "tray" does not look comfortable. http://www.google.com/imgres?rlz=1T4GGHP_enUS452US452&biw=1280&bih=593&tbm=isch&tbnid=N4ktfe5juLNNJM:&imgrefurl=http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php%3Fp%3D22362056&docid=x6GzUZCEneZ4kM&imgurl=http://www.thepreismans.com/Solstice_IMG_3748.jpg&w=451&h=300&ei=DYFPUqf2H4vy9gSyxYDoBQ&zoom=1&ved=1t:3588,r:21,s:0,i:152&iact=rc&page=2&tbnh=183&tbnw=263&start=15&ndsp=16&tx=142&ty=86.33334350585937 The upper portion looks very comfy and wide. http://www.google.com/imgres?rlz=1T4GGHP_enUS452US452&biw=1280&bih=593&tbm=isch&tbnid=CTXe67SATHQuKM:&imgrefurl=http://***************/ship/celebrity-solstice&docid=qdav9Gf3wIqgXM&itg=1&imgurl=http://clmedia.s3-website-us-east-1.amazonaws.com/reviews/381561/6023d63d80095dab20dfa1d45109c0e7.jpeg&w=2448&h=3264&ei=DYFPUqf2H4vy9gSyxYDoBQ&zoom=1&ved=1t:3588,r:93,s:0,i:368&iact=rc&page=6&tbnh=197&tbnw=139&start=84&ndsp=16&tx=68.3333740234375&ty=
Aussie Claire Posted October 5, 2013 Author #9 Share Posted October 5, 2013 Thank you everyone for your comments and photo's.:) We are in Concierge and the sofa bed will be for an adult lady approx. 5'6" tall and of average weight. Do they need to pull the sofa bed out of will they just make up the top of the divan/lounge. I presume the sofa bed/divan lounge is filled with foam rubber under the leather outer cover? I think I will ask for the egg crate topper to make it more comfortable. I used one of these toppers on a single bed on the Diamond Princess some years ago, I found the bed to be very hard, the topper was a great help. Iamthesea Posted October 5, 2013 #10 Share Posted October 5, 2013 I feel sure that with only one person, the divan/lounge will be used. I am not sure with Celebrity, but on the Disney ships, the top cushion flipped over and the underside was softer. A mattress pad and sheets then went on the bed, slightly smaller than a Twin sized mattress. The back pillows were removed. ;)
ccruisequeen Posted October 5, 2013 #11 Share Posted October 5, 2013 There's a sofa in our inside cabin on Century. I'm under five feet tall. Will I be comfortable?

Hi Claire, We were on Celebrity Solstice in April 2013 sailing from Sydney to Honolulu. We were in a three berth balcony cabin with my husband and 16 year old daughter. The first night the cabin steward made up the pull down from ceiling bed but my daughter complained it was very hard. Even with her coming to bed at 3.00 am and crashing it was still very hard LOL. The second night and for the rest of the cruise, he made up the lounge/sofa as her bed and put the mattress from the pull down bed and put it on top of the sofa. It was slightly softer but then the sofa bed was made up permanently as a bed for the rest of the cruise. We just sat on her bed/sofa if we wanted to use the sofa as a lounge. The water was like a mill pond all the way to Honolulu but sometimes the top mattress, whilst she was asleep, would slide around a little because it was on top of the sofa. Kim Hi Kim, thank you for the information, I was on the same cruise from Sydney to Hawaii, it was a great cruise except for Immigration in Maui and the bomb threat on arrival in Honolulu.:D We have a sofa/bed in our cabin so hopefully it will be comfortable. Oriana1 Posted October 6, 2013 #14 Share Posted October 6, 2013 Hi Claire, It was a fantastic cruise the Sydney to Honolulu cruise. I thought I remembered your name from the roll call. Definitely agree immigration in Maui was a nightmare. We got off quite early in Honolulu, I think we were group seven so did not know about the bomb threat.
