Droopy Posted July 10, 2005 #1 Share Posted July 10, 2005 :D We are cruising with our friend who will be in the cabin next to us. My dh thinks the partition can be removed to make a bigger balcony. Is this true? Has anyone done this? If so, do you take it out yourself or does Carnival personnel do it for you???
UsedtobeSmith Posted July 10, 2005 #2 Share Posted July 10, 2005 It really depends on the ship. Some can have the particions opens some can not. On the ships that can... you ask your cabin steward to open them for you. I had a heck of a time trying to find out if the Facsination's partitions opened (they dont)... sea_u_onboard Posted July 10, 2005 #3 Share Posted July 10, 2005 On the Conquest the dividers open towards the ship to the back. Depending on where your cabins are this can be good or bad. In our case we have cabins 6331, 6335 & 6339 all next to each other. Now we know how the divider opens for 6331 & 6335 because we had these cabins last time and liked the way the divider folded up against the window of cabin 6335. This time friends are sailing with us and they have cabin 6339 - since both cabin doors leading to the balcony are next to each other - as opposed to opposite sides - then the divider between these 2 cabins will actually lay against the door of cabin 6339 - making it harder to go in and out. We are going to bring a bungie along and so if tying it to the handle to their cabin will help. That way they will be able to open their cabin door and the divider will fold out of the way once they are through. I hope I'm explaining this so you can visualize it. So depending on what cabins you have it will make a difference on how much of a hassle it is. You need to ask your stewart when you board - some make both cabins go down to the pursers and get the OK (sign something) while others will just open it for you no questions asked. Good luck. barbaragrace Posted July 10, 2005 #4 Share Posted July 10, 2005 We had this done a few weeks ago on the LEGEND. AS soon as you board call (7777) and when they get to it they will open AND CLAMP the doors open. They opened our doors the following day for us and it was WONDERFUL!!! GoinCruisin Posted July 10, 2005 #5 Share Posted July 10, 2005 Ask early, only a certain number of partitions can be opened each sailing (Coast Guard regulations), so you will need to get your request in early... And not all partitions open (some may only have one side that opens..)
serene56 Posted July 11, 2005 #6 Share Posted July 11, 2005 another thing to keep in mind--you just cant open and close the dividers so you lose some kind of privacy here.

The bungee comes in handy here too. We used it to secure the partition at night or when we weren't using the balcony (friends were in adjoining cabin).
