Afloat Posted July 10, 2005 #1 Share Posted July 10, 2005 Does anyone have recommendations for lunch in St. John, N.B. Will be there in September off the Golden Princess. Also-Are the reversing falls best experienced by sightseeing boat or from the observatory in the Park. Not intertested in jet boat beacuse of back and neck issues. SJNB Posted July 10, 2005 #2 Share Posted July 10, 2005 Does anyone have recommendations for lunch in St. John, N.B. Will be there in September off the Golden Princess. Also-Are the reversing falls best experienced by sightseeing boat or from the observatory in the Park. Not intertested in jet boat beacuse of back and neck issues. Billy's Sea Food in the Old City Market or Steamers across from where the ships dock are both good places to eat. The Observation deck are great places to see the Reversing Falls. The best time to see the Falls is during Low Tide. It is not reversing at low tide but the waters are very violent, and interesting to see. What day will you be in Saint John, and I can tell you the best time to see the Rapids

SJNB Posted July 11, 2005 #4 Share Posted July 11, 2005 on Sept. 6 the Low tide is at 8:10AM AST (7:10 EST) it will be very rough probably for 2 hours. so if you head for Reversing Falls as soon as your boat docks you will get to see it. The water then comes to a complete stop at 12 noon AST for 20 min, and then will slowly start to reverse. At Reversing Falls there is 2 resturants, an observation deck and a movie on the falls. These 2 resturants are also good. These is also a tourist Information Centre inside the Main Falls Resturant. The Info Centre is run by the city. My suggestion would be to take a taxi from the terminal over and take the city bus back. the bus stops there every 15 or 20 min i believe. feel free to ask more questions
KruzinAl Posted July 21, 2005 #5 Share Posted July 21, 2005 We have friends that own a nice little family restaurant, called the Caveview in St. Martin's about 30 min from Saint John. You can rent a car or take a ship excursion. You can see the Bay of Fundy tides there, see the sea caves, hike/bike/kayak on the Fundy Trail and have the best seafood chowder in your life!! macaroni Posted July 24, 2005 #6 Share Posted July 24, 2005 We will be there on August 1st. When should we go to the Falls?
SJNB Posted July 24, 2005 #7 Share Posted July 24, 2005 We will be there on August 1st. When should we go to the Falls? on august 1st High Tide is at 10:15AM (the water is flowing backwards at this time) The water stops moving at 12:40PM for 20 min. then starts to move in its natural direction again. Low Tide is at 4:20PM (the water is most active at this time) you would begib to see alot of rapids forming around 1:30-2:00 All time's are local (Atlantic Time)
