Key west train tour versus electric car

We are going to Key West for the first time in March on the Sunshine. Just planning on doing our own thing, walking around sightseeing. It's me, DH (in our 40s), DS (13) and DD (8). Thinking about doing hop on/off train tour or renting electric car. Any experience, opinions, suggestions on which one to do? Thank you in advance for any input!

Actually, I have done neither, but while researching, I read that parking for the electric car can be somewhat difficult. FYI, we are sailing RCCL in February and believe it or not, I booked the hop on hop off (HOHO) cheaper thru RCCL then the website itself was charging. So, if you go that route, you might check Carnival and see if you find the same.

It can be difficult finding parking in Key West as the GEM cars require the same parking space as any other automobile. And metered parking now averages about $3 an hour.

If you got tickets for the trolley at less than $19 you did good.

The best way to get the lay of of the land is a tour and the train stays in the Old Town section and is the best way to go. Parking for the electric cars, not mention loss of power makes them sometimes more trouble than they are worth.
