shecup Posted December 27, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 27, 2013 Hi all... I'm thinking of taking my then 5yo daughter on a last minute 4 day cruise in 3 weeks. Unfortunately my husband starts a new job and won't be able to come. We are well seasoned cruisers so I'm not worried about her on the ship. Interested to know how other moms have managed physically and mentally and was it worth going? Thanks for any input.
rebeccalouiseagain Posted December 27, 2013 #2 Share Posted December 27, 2013 Totally worth it! I am a single Mom and have traveled many times solo with my son. We have an awesome time.
Kerry's Girls Posted December 27, 2013 #3 Share Posted December 27, 2013 There are quite a few of us here who cruise solo with kids, either because we're single or our partner can't get away. Sounds like a great mom/daughter getaway! Your daughter is past the age where it's a bit of a challenge (before the kids are old enough for kids club). It's an amazing way to travel on your own with kids. Let us know what your concerns are. All the best, Mia
shecup Posted December 27, 2013 Author #4 Share Posted December 27, 2013 OMG thanks so much ladies! This has helped quite a bit. I guess I just feel guilty that we'll be having all the fun without my husband and my mom who sometimes cruise with us. LOL
CI66774 Posted December 28, 2013 #5 Share Posted December 28, 2013 I'm a single mom and just returned from a seven-day on the Royal Princess with my 4 year-old princess. Had a great time. Go for it!
shecup Posted December 29, 2013 Author #6 Share Posted December 29, 2013 Ok we're BOOKED!! Woo hoo. I'm very excited! Also booked a pre cruise night at the Pop Century at Disney. I think we'll both be on cloud 9 the entire week. Thanks for the push I needed ladies! :D Tina
crusinmama06 Posted December 29, 2013 #7 Share Posted December 29, 2013 We love to cruise solo. My hubby messes up our schedule ;) My girls and I have had the most wonderful cruises - alone. I started taking them solo when they were toddlers. My youngest was 2. She is 9 now. It's great to look at a toddler and say "Wanna stay in the cabin and eat sandwiches in our PJs on the balcony?" Yeah a child is much more flexible ;) Have a great cruise!
