Ok, fine, I am going to New York. You were brave enough to continue with the review, I can make it to NY. Thinking about it that way, NY shall be piece of cake

I might even do a review for my next cruise on Princess. Ok, that's just being stupid but excited about the Royal Princess.

Yay, take me with you as your personal shopper :rolleyes:;):D:).

Thank-you!

I'm so super jealous, we have friends who are sailing the Royal in May, happy cruising! I would be real nice if you wrote a review :)!

My wife has a Croatian father and Serbian mother.Every Jan/Feb we would stay in Miami for a month(an ex Captain friend of our was working as a Port Captain on the river) and take a 7 day cruise. We picked the Triumph because of three ports where we wanted to visit friends,we also picked the ship against the advice of many because the Maitre d in our MDR was from the Ukraine and had been promoted to assistant M/D by our friend on another line.

There were quite a large number of first time Serbs and Croats working on board, 90% would never sign another contract with Carnival and ask my wife about other lines. The over riding feeling then was that they could not wait for EU membership. The Croats can for example come to the UK and work in a McD getting a min wage of $10 per hour for a 37.5 hr week.

This has driven recruitment agencies to visit countries that may not find Americans/Brits flavor of the month.

I didn't get the feeling that staff disliked us or their job, they seemed exhausted and edgy because of it. So in the end it would seem they dislike the employer.

Ken, thank you for taking us along with you on this amazing trip! Funny but I have lived right across the G. Washington Bridge into NJ my whole life and I have either sailed or driven past the Lady/Ellis Island THOUSANDS of times and she still brings a tear to my eye, but I have only visited her "in person" ONCE!:o Hate to impose and highjack this again, but was needing one more bit of advice. DS, his DW and my 2 DGS, aged 4 and 2 are going on RCI EOS a month from today. They will go to PC and I told them about the eco tour. I was looking at the website and looks kind of pricey for a 2 and 4 year old! Do you think this is something they would enjoy or are they too young for it to be worth the time and $. TIA and glad you had such a memorable trip.

Thank-you :).

Your not hijacking at all I welcome questions.

Hhhhmmmm hard to say not knowing them personally, but a 2-year-old might get fidgety. We were lucky to get to and and get as close as we did to the wildlife. Sherry said in the cruise in the morning they didn't see any manatee's, and they had to stay in their seats. We had the pontoon to ourselves and moved all over that sucker. It'd strictly nature viewing and backyard and back of homes viewing so if they are not total nature kids, they might not enjoy it. Now if it were a sailing like mine with lots of wild manatee's and dolphins and space to view them, yeah, but there's no guarantee. Kinda risky for the price, when they would probably have as much fun at the beach for free, but just an opinion.

After lunch we head back to the hotel for a rest. We have 7:30p.m. dinner reservations at Cafe Buon Gusto. So after a little rest it comes to decision time, do we go shopping pre dinner or post. We decide on pre and rush off to the subway to Union Square.

So after exploring Union Square we head back on the subway to 77th and Lexington for dinner at Cafe Buon Gusto. So glad I made reservations as they were very busy and not very big at all. After eating the food I see why they are packed, delicioso!

They gave us a basket of bread, with a variety of breads. We started off with Bruschetta Topped with Mozzarela & Prosciutto, excellent, so good. I got the special Homemade Spaghetti and Meatballs, freakin awesome!

I can't believe we never made it to one single nightclub, man are we getting old :D. We loved every second of our time today in NYC, we will be back for sure. So much more we want to see and do. Loved sailing from NYC, so much smoother than Port Everglades. We would love to combine sailing in/out of NYC with Bermuda itn.

Sadly this is where we are coming to the end. Thank-you to everyone, you have all contributed in your way and I appreciate that :)!

So after reading my adventures maybe you understand a little better why we are unlikely to sail CCL again, and maybe you don't.

We loved sailing on the Carnival Splendor, we loved the itinerary, we loved sailing from Manhattan, we loved spending time in the port city, NYC.

We are grateful to our Friend Sherry for finding this cruise, and pointing it out to us, and inviting us to join her and Jacob on this cruise & adventure :)!

I also highly doubt I do a holiday cruise ever again, with the possible exception of July 4th, departing on that day in a harbor with kewl fireworks. That specific scenario might tempt me, otherwise no thank-you.

So I guess that's all I can think of now, so if there are any questions, pic requests, or just anything you want to talk about the floor is open, let it fly people :D!

In summary....what exactly would not make you book Carnival again?

Some how I missed the reasons in all your posting -- not critizing. Just a little confused.

Thanks!

MARAPRINCE

I really don't see how, as it was discussed more than once, both in my account and in the back and forth, if you don't get it by now then it's doubtful you ever will. Let's just say CCL is not the line for me and leave it at that, thank-you :)!
