Dollar Car Rental

We are looking at renting a car after we disembark in Fort Lauderdale, to use until our 5:00 pm flight. I have found a good rate for a minivan with Dollar. Should we pick up from the airport or from the Port Everglades location? We will need to be shuttled to get the van. Does the Dollar shuttle go to both locations?

Dollar has a Port Everglades location, which is located at port gates.

Reserved your vehicle pickup at that location and drop off at the airport. Shuttles are available at the port, to Port Everglades location.

When reserving, confirm pickup location for port.

Factor in the cost of dropping your rental at FLL vs using the Port Everglades location for pickup/return...you might be surprised at the airport fees that are added (or at least in our case)...We used a taxi $12.00 from FLL to the PE Thrifty (same building/desk as Dollar) when we did the opposite with our pre-cruise rental this past October.

The difference in price to rent the minivan after our cruise from the PE location on Miami Road is $5 less than renting at the airport. I guess my actual question is: will the Dollar shuttle pick us up from the port after we disembark and bring us to the PE location or does the shuttle only go to the airport? I would think that it would be a little bit quicker to get to the Miami Road location over going to the airport.

The answer to your actual question is..yes...The Dollar/Thrifty shuttle will take you to the PE location on Miami Road...which is just outside the terminal gate.
