Rare crewsweeper Posted January 6, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 6, 2014 For those of you stopping in Grand Turk over the next month or so, local Caribbean lobster is in season. Don't know if Jimmy Buffets or other beach spots (don't think Jacks Shack fools with it though)cook it up, Local Village did but they're closed. But if you head downtown you might find it at Barbies, Sandbar, or Bohio Dive Resort (it's on their dinner menu) may have it for lunch. Ask around. swimgirl1 Posted January 13, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 13, 2014 Did you say Local Village is closed? Please advise.
Rare crewsweeper Posted January 13, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted January 13, 2014 Did you say Local Village is closed? Please advise. Yes. I think Arthur lost his lease. Supposedly there's a new place going in there. ITMT, Crew Bar between Buffetburg and old Local Village is suppose to be a nice substitute.

swimgirl1 Posted January 14, 2014 #6 Share Posted January 14, 2014 (edited) We will probably try Sandbar and get there right at noon, to make sure we can make it back in time for the 2pm departure. Thanks! Edited January 14, 2014 by swimgirl1 Duplicate
sail7seas Posted January 17, 2014 #7 Share Posted January 17, 2014 Is Grand Turk lobster crawfish? I'm from Boston and am used to hardshell cold water lobsters. I wonder what a Caribbean warm water lobster is like.
Rare crewsweeper Posted January 19, 2014 Author #8 Share Posted January 19, 2014 No that's langostino or squat lobsters. Caribbean lobsters are spiny lobsters (no claws), which have most of their meat in their tails. But the tail meat is similar in flavor to clawed lobsters.
