What liquor to get....?

You'll see this cross posted in the other two ports that we'll be stopping in at, just so you know.

 

We'll be leaving end of February, and Cozumel is one of the stops. I'd really love to do what I did last cruise, and bring back a couple of "Can't get it in the states" extra yummy drinks that are indigenous to the area.

Example: We brought back two bottles of Ron del Barrilito from San Juan, and two bottles of Bambarra Rum from Grand Turk.

 

So what should I be looking for, and where can I get it?

While you can check the pier duty free store, best bet is to go to the Mega Superstore close tot he Plaza or to Chedurai near by and look for special tequilas only available in Mexico.

 

Tequila Don Valente;

Maestro Tequila;

Reserva de los Gonzalez;

Tapatio;

Gran Tulum;

Nueva Era;

 

Are a few names among many.

 

Similarly for mescal: Mezcal Sacrificio or Mezcal Los Javis are two artisanal mescals not typically available in the US.

 

Azteca de Oro Brandy is also something to look for. And you might want to try some of the Mexican wines, if sold there.
