Vehicle Excursions as solos

For those of you who have traveled solo and booked excursions where customers get to operate a vehicle (Dune Buggy, Jeep, power boat, etc...) do you have to get paired up with others in the vehicle? Looking at booking a Dune Buggy and Beach excursion, but would only enjoy it if I got to drive it. I don't want to be paired with a family and end up the passenger...Do solos ever get their own vehicle?
