doc&bug Posted January 31, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 31, 2014 If you want a personalized and informative day while in Port of Harwich, contact Ruth Freedman at waggie1951@gmail.com. We met Ruth and her husband Martin on a cruise and then contacted them in regard to a day in port. They picked us up for a delightful, full day tour. We had English Tea, saw wonderful sites (our choices/their suggestions combined), had a typical Fish and Chips in a local pub. The villages and countryside are unique and charming. We learned a lot about the local area and suggest you contact her for a day trip. June and Dave Watson
Riise Posted February 4, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 4, 2014 Did you stay in Harwich or take you to other areas? I think the Essex/Suffolk boarder area is often missed by a lot of people but does have soem lovelly places to visit and areas with history that can rival any town/city in the UK. We are very proud of our locality too.:) We took them to Lavenham, Kersey, East Bergholt, Flatford etc. I also passed on some information about Harwich and it's history.Of course, Colchester is "just down the road" and is the oldest recorded town in England. Riise Posted February 6, 2014 #5 Share Posted February 6, 2014 It always amazes me that a place with as much history as colchester has failed to become a major tourist attraction in its own right. Those places along the River Stour though are also great to visit, Flatford, Dedham and others are i guess what alot of people consider typical Englsih countryside villages. kfowinst Posted February 26, 2014 #6 Share Posted February 26, 2014 (edited) My favorite places in Suffolk are Aldeburgh Lavenham and Southwold, just wonderful destinations that are popular with English tourists but not foreigners (yet) The quintessential British seaside towns and villages Edited February 26, 2014 by kfowinst

iluvbkk Posted March 16, 2014 #8 Share Posted March 16, 2014 Your tour sounds interesting. Do you recall the details of it as to how much it was and how long? I am tempted to check it out.
