parallax Posted February 3, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 3, 2014 In June, we are going on the Silhouette that starts and end in Venice. The ship arrives back in Venice the day before we disembark. Can we exit the ship earlier than normal as it has already cleared customs? We saw a 8:00 flight out and were trying to determine if the rules for disembarking were any different if the ship has already been in port for a day. Chunky2219 Posted February 4, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 4, 2014 I can't speak for Venice, but here's how it worked in Sydney. Passports and visas were sorted on board before we even reached Australia. During the day in Sydney, we could get on and off the ship as much as we wanted. Bags had to be outside the door at the usual time. Next morning, for disembarkation, it was the normal routine with full-blown customs clearance and bag checks. There was the self-disembark option to carry all your own bags, but no option to sneak out early and pick bags up on the quay. If our allocated disembarkation time was too early or late, we could swap to another time. This was on Solstice, so may not be the universal case. I would have expected something similar in Venice, but you need advice from someone who's been there, done it and bought the tee-shirt. .
