Ok so I’m taking in all the comments concerning the Carnival Sunshine. I’m pretty worried because I have not seen a great comment thus far! Now I’m not a full time cruiser I can honestly say I’ve only been on 4 cruises with Carnival but I was really excited to book with the Sunshine given its new 2.0 upgrades. All I hear or read is sewage smells, buckets in hallways, poor food in the dining rooms ect. Can anyone give me something to look forward to on my upcoming cruise lol??? I know that a vacation is all about what you make it, but are there any good qualities about the ship? Shows, food, rooms and services? Thanks in advance

I'm with ya southerncruisingal! We have a May cruise booked on Sunshine and hoping we did not make a mistake. We will enjoy ourselves no matter what as we always do, but this is the most we have spent yet so don't want to be disappointed.

I loved the Sunshine and didn't notice any of the things you mentioned. The food was really good. The new eating venues with the 2.0 upgrades are great. I didn't think the staff was quite as friendly as some ships I've been on, but the service was perfect from start to finish.

If you frequent the casino, I did better in Sunshine's casino than I normally do on Carnival's ships.

Try the free lunch at the Italian restaurant. It was great but get there when they open because it gets busy quickly.

Have a great cruise! And don't worry. You'll have a great time.

I got off the Sunshine yesterday. I did not see any buckets, or smell any sewage smells. I thought the food was very good. The layout of the ship, however, leaves much to be desired. There were too many people for the common areas on the ship. I was quite disappointed in the POOR quality of entertainment on the ship. Our group was made up of senior adults, and there was no entertainment that appealed to us. We enjoyed out balcony, and spent much time watching for UFOs (unidentified floating objects), and eating ice cream.

For my 12 day Med trip in Oct I didn't have any of the extreme complaints. No sewage smells. Did see a bucket or two over the 12 days I wouldn't even had noticed had I not been following extreme comments on the months before the cruise.

Stayed Aft oceanview on deck 2 and spent most of the other ship time on Lido and deck 5. Busy in ports excursions on this cruise so that may have effected the feel of the ship as far as crowded and didn't do the entertainment so can't help there.

MDR was fine, not something I usually do so can't compare with other ships. Food decent and waiters were great. Didn't realize the Maitre D sings and waiters dance EVERY NIGHT, thought it was once a week. Not my thing I suppose but people seemed to be having fun... it would have helped if we weren't under a speaker. Started to brace ourselves every night as Desert was served. OK it was fun as a running joke with our tablemates....and I admit he does have a nice voice. I'll always associate Sunshine with Sinatra.

Sunshine is a lovely ship. Favorites were the 2.0 upgrades in dining choices. Cuchina /Jiji area is a quieter area away from the lido that we ate in even when we weren't eating from the Cuchina / JiJi stattions; and don't forget that there are made to order omelettes there in the morning.

Had been a bit concerned with hard bed comments afraid with it being a new roll out we would have them; but our room was great. I did ask as usual for the extra duvet to be added for softness but the beds but probably didn't even need them. the room was great, bedding comfortable comfortable and like the Sunshine's warm and a bit more subdued colors.

I even managed to get one of the great curl up chairs a couple of mornings in the Serenity area which is admittedly very busy but very nice and much larger than any I have had a chance to try before so even though it is close to the big screen is relatively quiet in the higher levels.

Loved the Sunshine and would be happy to sail her again. Hope you have a great sailing. Don't let all the reviews sway you. Always a chance something could go wrong but that could happen on any ship.

i do agree with what they say above crowded in areas did not like the marketplace at all the havana bar behind there was a little less crowded but not much always a line for the omlette station so we never wanted to wait the breakfast burritos at blue iguana on lido were good but again at times there is where you go to get to market place so gets a little congested if need to get through sea days if you like to lay in the sun or out on deck can be challanging to find a chair if you dont get out early espically on serenity area but they do try to moniter the saving of chairs up on serenity cause i watched her one day this one person was saving a lounge and a clam shell bed he kept moving back and forth when she would tag them till his wife showed up around noon wow that was to much effort for me when im on vacation.there was a slight sewer smell on deck 4 one day not bad though the staff was good food was pretty good the pay restaurants were good we didnt make it to much of the entertainment went to a magic show it was all card tricks very impressive tricks but got a little old wish had been other magic stuff also. the comedy was fun went one night you have to get in line ahead of time to get in to see the comedy club it fills up fast its a small area if you get there later you will be sitting where you cant see the stage you are looking at a tv screen thats wierd but thats how its designed there is good and bad about this ship depends on what you like how you will feel about it i still enjoyed my trip but will probably try a different ship next time if you want to get away from crowd one day try the secret deck all the way forward on deck seven no one there the day i went there
