on board credit (OBC)

My son, his girlfriend and myself have just booked a mini-suite balcony cabin on the Pacific Jewel to Tasmania next March '15. We are over the moon excited about it.:D

My question is:

How is on board credit worked out? When I first looked up my cruise on the P&O web site they said 75 OBC but my travel agent stated 50 OBC. I will ask next time I speak to her but would like an answer from a cruiser on here.

Also, how do you use it? I admit I'm truly in the dark about it.

Thanks in advance for any help. :)

the OBC is used to pay for anything onboard, it will be on your account within 24 hours and its the first to come off the account

you are better to put cash down because p&o have a habit of putting holds on your credit card so the holds can take up to 30 days to get released

Hope you enjoy the cabin! There aren't that many of those on there.

When you're onboard, any spending will come from your onboard account - you don't pay on the spot. The credit is a credit to that account, so will be deducted from the total cost of your spending on board, when you pay at the end.

Firstly, on board credit is worked out by the travel company that sells you the ticket. Different companies offer different amounts and it has nothing to do with P&O.

How do you use it? There is no cash on board, all your drinks, shore excursions etc are all charged to your on board account, to which the credit is also applied.
