Freedom 2.22.14-8 day St. Thomas, Antigua, Tortola,Nassau

We left after a while and went to the piano bar, where we saw Larry.

We didn't stay at the piano bar too long, then we went to the dance club. Had some fun there, hit the casino for a bit and went to bed. I was up later than I thought I could make it, since I had little sleep the night before and had been traveling since early in the morning. I'm sure it was midnight or later when we went to bed.

DH and I woke up around 7 or so and we went to the gym. First though, I had to get my coffee. We went to Lido for coffee and maybe just a bite to eat. I had some fruit (cantaloupe, honeydew) which had absolutely no taste. I took a small bite of each and left it. The coffee was not as bad as I had remembered it. Maybe they changed it.

We went to the gym, went back and showered and changed. At 10:00, Susan, Cheri and I were to meet in the laundry room on deck 2. Yep, that's right. Susan had bought iron-on transfers and I had bought white t-shirts for the six of us, so we did what we had to do. We ironed and ironed. lol The T-shirts all came out really nice, except for one: our names were on the back. Susan's boyfriend is "Bo", but when Susan ironed it on, it was upside-down. We laughed and laughed. Some lady came in and said, "I didn't know laundry could be so much fun". LOL. We all planned to wear our t-shirts for our cc meet and greet, scheduled at 3pm.

The six of us had planned ahead of time to meet for the brunch at 11. The women were running late from the ironing. The brunch was okay. I'm kind of getting tired of the same food all the time, but it was still pretty good. I had the huevos rancheros, or whatever it's called, like I normally get. I love the hot sauce that comes on the side with it. Sorry, but no food pictures this time. I figured there are enough pictures floating around of the food items.

After brunch, DH and I headed straight for the Lido deck for some sun. It was such a nice day. We found a place to hang out for the day and relaxed.

Our planned meet and greet (paid ahead of time) was scheduled at 3, so we made that on time.

On the way to the M&G:

Bo's shirt! Still laughing about this!

Susan models our t-shirts:

We had a great time at the M&G and it was so fun to meet the people from our roll call. Ryan was our organizer and we were able to get in under the old pricing. We had a selection of a few drinks, DH wanted a mudslide but was told "no frozen", I heard someone ask for a martini and was told no, but we still had plenty to drink. I stuck with Mai Tai's. A good time was had by one and all.

I met some other people in a group (and with matching t-shirts!). They were a group of 8 or 10, they had all met on the Freedom at the same time last year. They were fun.

Good review so far. My Fun Group will be on the Freedom in Sept. but Carnival replaced Totola with San Juan we are not too happy about the change.

I am mad too about how Tortola is out! I want to go back, so I may have to cruise with another line in order to get there. That was my favorite place of all time, the Baths!

Love your review. We were on the same cruise. Went thru the caves with you guys. Beth

Hi Beth! I don't have any photos of you on my camera, but I think Susan or Cheri might. Did you guys exchange emails so they could send them to you? It was nice meeting you. We had fun that day, didn't we? :D

Nice review so far Brenda! Sure looks like you had a great time!

Thanks Sue, it was wonderful. I think this may have been my favorite cruise, because of the ports.

Ship-wise, I think Liberty is still the top on my list of all the ships I've been on so far. Freedom though, definitely a good one.

After M&G, it ran into time to get ready for formal night dinner. We had a slight wait if I remember correctly - not long at all - and were again seated in I Made's section. (I Made mistake) He did make mistakes, lol. Again, there were some long pauses between courses. I asked for coffee with my dessert and never received it. I didn't perish because of it, but sad that service was lacking a little. Oh, and did I mention that we had anytime dining. Remember also that service will vary between wait teams and we had much better service with other teams later in the week.

Here is a pic of Bob and Cheri and you could see I Made in the background.

We had another couple join us for dinner, a couple that Susan knew from back home.

A picture of my unphotogenic self but I will include it nonetheless.

After dinner, Susan wanted to head to a show in the Victoriana. I don't remember the name of the show, but I know I had seen it before (this was our second time on the Freedom and the shows were the same). The Freedom did not have the playlist productions at this time. I am not a big "show" person myself, I prefer comedians, a good piano bar entertainer, or a good live band. 1779824_10152249790188958_1502234472_n.jpg

After the show, I do not remember what we did. I think by this time, we were getting tired and did not stay out too late. I do remember donating some money to the casino. I said at this point that I would stay away as I did not have any luck on my side. Luckily, I am not that big of a gambler.

I do think we caught some comedy shows this night and we saw Carl Falkenberry. He was really good. There was another guy (Think his name started with an E) and he was not as good.

All in all, was a great day at sea, and the next day was another day at sea with some great adventures!

Ah, another day at sea. Love it when right off the bat, you have two sea days.

We went to the gym again. We made it to the gym a total of 3 times for the 8 day cruise. Port days were too hectic to get there, Nassau day we were too tired to work out.

We decided to get our coffee first, then we just grabbed breakfast at Lido afterwards. Afterwards, we cleaned up and decided we were heading out to sunshine decks for another beautiful day.

I had wanted to find a spot in the aft area but it was too full. We finally find a spot to call home for a couple of hours.

A busy day out on Lido today.

[quote name='Thommy_Boy']I will be on this cruise 03/22/14. Meeting up with a family I met on my thanksgiving cruise last year. Never been to Tortola or Antigua.

I had never been to those port either, but I'm sure I did get the chance to go. They were both beautiful places.

It is nice to meet up with folks that you met on a previous cruise, isn't it? :)

We were on the Freedom in 2012 and will be back on her in September of this year. Loved the ship and looking forward to it. A little disappointed but we have not ported in San Juan before - so it's okay.

Looking forward to more of your review and pictures of Antigua. I do agree with you about those first two seas days - nice and relaxing after the hustle and bustle of getting ready to cruise.

Antigua was a lot of fun. We did a non-ship excursion tour. I will be writing all about it.

Second sea day continued:

DH likes corn hole, or as Carnival calls it, Bean Bag toss. We saw in the fun times that there was a tournament scheduled sometime in the afternoon. So, we went (it was deck 10 I think). And it was really, really windy. Tough to play when you are being blown around. Actually, it was so windy, that it gave me a headache. But at least it wasn't snowing!
This is just practice:

So, DH (Scott) couldn't believe he made it to the finals

But...

Wait....

not so fast...

She was confused....

SORRY! Someone ELSE won the SOS, but Scott could have a medal! Oh boy, we already have about 8 at home!

At least he seems happy! We were really laughing about that though. OOPS! lol

Time for a mocha chocolate getaway for Scott. I thought this one looked a bit skimpy on the chocolate on the glass, but he enjoyed it nonetheless.
