Car Hire Southampton

My fingertips are raw, my eyes are blurred and I've just about had it with researching a reliable taxi/car hire from Southampton to a town near Heathrow. Estimates range from 90 to 140 BPs and worse, the reviews are either ancient or apparently written in many cases by competitors. Right now it appears that Smiths for Airports or Totally Driven are the best bets for cost and reliability. But on the off chance have any of you had recent experience with a taxi service that you would recommend. Stupid me, I lost the business card for one I used from Harwich last year.

£90 to £110 is about the going rate for Southampton to Heathrow, so you should be finding similar for your destination.

Yes, http://www.smithsforairports.com are likely to be best value. Frequently used & recommended here on CC

Here's some recent threads which mention them - haven't read them but confident they'll be saying good things.

http://www.westquaycars.com is another supplier based at the Southampton end and used happily by CC members.

Good cars, good drivers, good reliability but usually a little more expensive than Smith's.

Thanks, but your link doesn't work

Nope, didn't work for me either.

Since it's a tailor-made list, it might be something that times-out.

Dont-ya just love technology.

Try again:

If that doesn't work (says "sorry, no matches"):

Go back to the "Britain" forum, and on the right-hand side above the questions & announcements click on "search this forum".

The page will flick down, you'll see a box "search this forum".

Type "Smiths" into the box & click on "go".

Thanks again, JB. Buggy whips and anvils, they're my idea of high tech.
