Fury Catamaran through Carnival or no?

OK. So I'm not afraid of booking stuff myself (and certainly not afraid of saving money).

I know the one big "pro" of booking through the cruiseline itself is if you're delayed or late then the boat waits for you. But that's not a big threat here (we hit Coz at 1:00 on a Carnival ship).

I was toying with Sanchos, Nachocom or Chank (or another beach/park I'm going to spell wrong) and just playing on inflatables and snorkeling from shore.

However, when figuring in cab fare there/back and snorkel equip. rental I think the Fury catamaran + 1 hour beach time to play on inflatables is a better value, even at ship's price. Question is, do you Coz experts think booking it myself WOULD actually save money? Enough to outweigh the value of cruiseline having some responsibility towards a cancellation/refund and/or delay return?

You might look at the Money Bar -- less cab fare (about $9-10 each way) and no admission fee. Great snorkeling from the shore, good food/drinks/service & facilities. No beach, but there is a sandy area for sunning and relaxing. Good luck! :)
