vegas321 Posted April 19, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 19, 2014 Has anyone gotten married on a cruise leaving from Alaska? Leaning towards taking a Princess cruise, as we have done this route before and want our guest to experience Glacier Bay. Did you get married on embarkation day, in a port or on a sea day? Which ship? What country was the marriage registered in? We want to be married on embarkation day (for those guest not sailing with us) or a sea day by the captain. (obviously non sailing guests are not an issue on a sea day!) I did post this message in the honeymoon/wedding section of these boards as well. Any tips would be helpful. AKman2495 Posted April 19, 2014 #3 Share Posted April 19, 2014 You can forget about embarkation day. The crew is just too busy to do anything like that. Second, you can schedule your wedding before hand, but they have wedding coordinators aboard ship to actually plan the ceremony. They will going to all of the key issues for the wedding. It will most likely happen on a sea day, so plan for that. Although it is possible to have it on the day you are cruising through Glacier Bay. We did a renewal of vows in November and that is how it went down. We pre booked the "deluxe renewal of vows package", but the details were only learned once we sailed. Definitely get with the Passenger service desk on embarkation day (wait until a few hours after boarding) to set up the meeting with the coordinator. You want to to do that first thing. After that it is just getting to gather with the coordinator and setting things up. Congratulations and I hope you have a really great time! RNGALNG Posted April 19, 2014 #4 Share Posted April 19, 2014 Would 'guests not sailing with us' even be allowed onboard the day of embarkation? We saw a very nice ceremony taking place at the aft of the Crown this past February. There was room for about 30 people on the starboard side above the pool. No gawkers, seemed to just be a small family group. You couldn't hear anything from midship - MUTs or music, very nice. We were not guests, just passing by on our way to play trivia somewhere else onboard. Have a wonderful cruise and wedding! PS we are sailing at the end of the summer to Alaska on the Grand. Maybe you will choose that ship and our week? Wishing you well.
caribill Posted April 20, 2014 #5 Share Posted April 20, 2014 You can forget about embarkation day. The crew is just too busy to do anything like that. Princess often has weddings on embarkation day with non-sailing guests allowed onboard until about an hour before sailing.

Yes they most certainly do. I believe the wedding party boards before BVE people.
