First cruise on Azura in September

We have taken the plunge and booked our first cruise in September on Azura going to the Med. This is a special holiday as it's our 30th wedding anniversary. We have booked select with freedom dining. Just wondering about drinks and if it is a good idea to buy a wine package or would it be better to pay as you go?

We buy a Wine Package. Normally we finish the bottle over dinner and that sets us up for the dancing afterwards. :)

Some people say the whole range in a package isn't always available but we have never had a problem. Its a matter of choice but it is cheaper. Remember if you buy in advance it doesn't come off your OBC.

It says you can save 'up to' 15%. It depends on what you like to drink, you may save 15%, or you may save nothing! depending on your choices. The wine prices are no more expensive than UK restaurant prices!

If you look on P & O's site it lists which wines are available in each package. You may not like them. If you like to choose the colour of the wine to go with what you are eating it may be that the wines left on your package are not suitable. You don't have to finish the bottle, the waiter will save it for the next day.

There's fors and against a package. The house wine is very drinkable. We like to have half a litre between us.

We have had the wine package where you get to select from a dozen wines, think it was called the commodore at the time. It was fine, with a small saving if you picked the most expensive wines on offer. Didn't do it again as got bored with the wines on it. The wine list is pretty decent and well priced. I just choose a bottle I fancy now.

As mentioned above it depends on what you prefer, just to mention that you may like to save some room for some really good wines ( by the glass) in the Glass House, and try the wine flights, which is a selection of three different glasses for something like £10 -£14, we tend to share and try, a great way to pass an hour or so.

I am sure you will love it all.
