We didn't go over to Napali. We had planned to, but our excursion ticket wouldn't let us go over to Napali until noon. Since the last tender left at 3:30 for the ship, we didn't feel it was worth it for us. we enjoyed the beach and lunch. I understand that Napali Beach is beautiful, and there were boats to rent, etc. but we enjoyed our day without the excursion.

We have been to Fanning Island twice...once on the STAR and once on the WIND. We are hoping to make it to Fanning one more time on our WIND cruise in Sept. We have not done the Napali Beach excursion. We have found plenty to do on Fanning Island. We enjoy looking at the local craft bazaar (brings lots of small bills) and enjoy the lunch provided. The beach is small, but nice...and a great place to relax with a cool drink. We also enjoy having that goofy picture taken in the water with the waiter wearing the tux!! Walking around the island is very interesting...you can do it on your own, or commission a local to lead you around. Oh, don't forget to have your passport stamped!!! Have fun!!

We have been to Fanning Island twice on our Star cruises. We loved Fanning Island and want very much to go back there again. On our first visit we did not go to Napoli Beach, but enjoyed the main part of the island. On our second cruise we did go to Napoli Beach and found it to be beautiful!! It is a wide, sandy beach. The water is soooo warm and it was fun to get one of the floating mats and walk out very far and let the waves gently take you back in to shore.

On the main island be sure to get away from the vendors (after you purchase a few of their creations) and beach area and wander through the village. Go at least as far as the school. Many cruise passengers bring school supplies for the children or small toys to give out to the many children you will encounter on the trails, etc. We did this on our last cruise and it was fun to see their smiles. The people of Fanning Island are very friendly and charming. I hope you enjoy your visit as much as we did.

We did the Napoli beach excursion and were very glad we did. I'm not a sun lover, so the shaded lounge chairs appealed to me. We rented the hobie cats and sailed for awhile, then took bikes out and rode a couple of miles along the shore - again some nicely shaded areas along the path to get out of the hot sun. We took the first tender to Napoli at 7:45, so we beat the crowds and didn't have to wait to check out sailboats or bikes. We also just relaxed in the shade on the beach for an hour or so.

We went over to the regular beach for lunch and found the area to be very crowded and hot without much shade. We wandered through the craft area and looked around the village, but found little that appealed to us. I think that if we had just done the regular beach, it would have been a disappointing port.
