Explorer of the seas Royal Family Suite Vs Family Oceanview Stateroom

Recommended Posts

I have looked around for a couple hours and can't find an exact answer in one place. I have two different rooms on hold right now and trying to decide between which one to go with. We are a family of 5 and I am trying to decide between the Royal Family suite and the family oceanview stateroom. The suite is more than double the price so I would need the benefits to be worth it. My kids ages are 13, 11, and 8.

Thanks for any advise.

To add, the differences also are:

The FOV is a standard stateroom - the RFS is a suite.

The FOV does not have a balcony - the RFS has a large balcony.

The FOV (varies with layout) has "bunk room" with a top pullman and bottom single plus a foldout couch in a seating area that can accommodate 6 total - the RFS has two dedicated bedrooms (one master / one with two pullmans and two singles) and a fold out couch in a living room that can accommodate 8 total. The LR also has additional seating and storage.

The FOV has one bathroom - the RFS has two (one with a shower - the other with a shower/tub).

The FOV has one TV - the RFS has two.

The RFS is quite a bit larger than the FOV - FOV 265 sg. ft. / RFS 561 sg. ft. + 246 sg. ft. balcony.

They really are two different staterooms and those differences result in the trade off in price.

When I was in the RFS on Explorer, the one we were in did NOT have a TV in the small bedroom...not sure if that's changed or not.

(IIRC there was one for the master, and one in the living room.....I think..)

It's a lot of room, you'll have 2 bathrooms and tons of storage space...

Correct - one in the LR and one in the master BR - 2 total.
