snorkel4ever Posted May 19, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 19, 2014 We are going on a western caribbean cruise the previous week and will likely purchase some Tequila or maybe rum. Disembarking one ship in Miami and travelling to Fort Lauderdale same day to board Allure for eastern Caribbean itinerary. When we board Allure, what is the process for "turning over the liquor for safe keeping" until we disembark and "re-claim at end of cruise"? Any suggestions for how to do this smoothly with the least amount of hassle? Can anyone comment on quality/taste of John Waitling rum in Nassau (planning on doing a tour) vs other types of rums in Western Caribbean ports. Does anyone have any smooth, rich or flavored rum or tequila brand suggestions?
Clarea Posted May 19, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 19, 2014 (edited) We got the 5 year old version of John Watling's rum and it was was very smooth. It did not last long.:) The tour is interesting and takes less than an hour. Edited May 19, 2014 by clarea

Does anyone have any smooth, rich or flavored rum or tequila brand suggestions? For many years I have sought the finest rums only to be disappointed. For the last four years have settled on a group of rums that are enjoyed for different reasons, they are my personal opinion/taste only Best low priced Rums PYRAT XO or PYRAT PISTOL (if you can find it) Best medium priced Rums ZACAPA 23 or DON Q Best medium/higher priced Rum ZACAPA XO Best higher priced Rum PYRAT CASK Not brave enough to venture any higher in case one is disappointed So words of wisdom, find a rum you love and stick with it, and if feeling flushed, try a higher priced Rum. But be prepared to feel you have wasted your money. It is the same with Single Malts Enjoy the hunt:D The handover at embarkation is simple. Just place into a separate bag and prior to X-Ray say the the Officer on Duty that you wish to surrender. No problems, they take your details and stateroom, then deliver it to you stateroom the evening prior to disembarkation.
