Food and Drink In costa Maya

Anybody had any problems with food or drink in Costa Maya or Belize? Thanks

We ate at Mamacita's restaurant right at the port and had no problems. Can't speak for anything outside the immediate port area though.

We had no problem at Tapa's in Costa Maya. Stuck with Corona just to make sure.

 

In Planning Stages

Just drink bottled drinks and only purified ice "yale-o pure-e-fe-ca-do" and any cooked foods. Its the raw uncooked that gives us gringos trouble. Happy paradise!

Perhaps being a bit paranoid - but should salsa be considered an uncooked vegetable? Has anyone had any problems after eating salsa at some of these local places?

We had no problem with salsa, chopped onions and tomatoes on our nachos. However, I don't think anyone had enough to cause much of a problem.

Our tour guide in Belize told us they do not have the problems that they do in Mexico with food making people sick. She said their rivers and streams are very very clean and the water is clean. I ate by the pier at a place called " The Wet Lizard" Very very good food, I tried the Belize beer, was ok on a hot day, but a bit heavy. We ate all the fresh salso practically licking the bowl clean and we were fine.I enjoyed Belize so much I wnat to go back next yr. Of course I usually eat where I see crew of the ship eating. That is my first clue that they know it is good and safe.

In Cozumel I had salsa at the beach ( Chakanaab Park) that was very good and we were also fine. LIke I said, I stick to the larger modern looking restaraunts and so far so good.
