Anytime dining on the Sunshine - can I go standby for fixed dining?

Fixed-seating dinner was sold out when I booked, so we have anytime dining. A friend said we could go to the fixed-seating dining room and stand by for a table. But she wasn't sure if she had done that on Carnival or Princess. Does Carnival allow standby?

No stand-by on Carnival.

 

Several choices---

see the Maitre 'D at embark, many times they will be able to change you.

 

Go to the ATD MDR at your preferred dining time. Usually 7 is the 'witching hour' so either dining time should be good. You can ask for the same waitstaff in ATD.

We loved anytime dining in early May. Servers Bogdan and Nick were so wonderful we asked for them every night.
