ach2bz Posted July 17, 2014 #2 Share Posted July 17, 2014 We were disappointed in our jeep tour by Cozumel Cruise Excursions, $280.00 for family of four. Jeep was not air conditioned, you smelled/breathed exhaust fumes in the jeep during the tour. The snorkeling was nice at the private beach club they take you to, reefs were not alive but we did see some pretty fish, wish we could have snorkeled longer as we enjoyed that part of the tour the most. The jeep got a flat tire during the tour, had to eat at another place as not to waste an hour of time waiting for new tire and ended up paying more for our lunch. The company did give us a $28 dollar credit towards our lunch but we ended up paying an additional $54 dollars for lunch. Our guide was nice, we had some difficulty understanding him. When you get there they ask you to drive the jeep until you are out of city limits and then on they way back they ask you to drive back to the pick up area right before you enter the city limits, limit your drinking if you are the one that is driving. ach2bz Posted July 17, 2014 #3 Share Posted July 17, 2014 We noticed the flat tire when we were getting back in the jeep after leaving the Punta Sur lighthouse. Flat tires are a bummer but can happen to anyone and it was fixed within an hour, we has just finished eating when they said flat was fixed. We opted to eat at a restaurant near the entrance of Punta Sur to save time while they fixed the flat tire since we were on a limited time schedule. I don't recall the name of the place but we ordered chips, coconut fried shrimp, an order of french fries, two chicken and two shrimp quesadillas lunches along with 2 sodas, one water and one beer. I got an email from the owner right before your posting. He explained they did not have enough jeeps that day and they had to rent one for us so I guess that may explain the jeep issues. He said their jeeps are not like this which explains why other reviews did not mention issues with their jeep. He also said our driver was not one of their regular tour guides and that our guide was not able to make it that due to a family medical situation. He sincerely apologized and realized our tour was not up to their standards. He offered to give us a free tour next time we visit and offered to reimburse us $54 for our lunch. So it seems we just happened to hit this tour on the wrong day….We all know how family medical issues can arise and know how they can change plans. So give them a try… as many reviewers seemed happy with them and that is why we booked with them.
dizneefreak28 Posted July 18, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted July 18, 2014 That doesn't sound fun! We were looking more for a company that does the driving. I did one years ago....and it was awesome! But I can't remember the name of the company anymore.
ach2bz Posted July 18, 2014 #5 Share Posted July 18, 2014 They DO most of the driving, we just had to drive out of town and then a few miles back to town because we wanted to stop at the Forum shops before we got back on the cruise, the driver then picked us in front of the Forum shops 45 minutes later and took us back to where we got in the jeep. So no worries, you will not be doing most of the driving. I was told by the owner that they usually drop you off at the port and you don't need to drive at all on the way back, I suppose we did because we asked to stop at the Forum shops since we had about an hour before we had to get back on ship. The owner said the driver we had was not one of their regular drivers so maybe our driver was unaware of the company's normal drop off procedures. Read other reviews…..seems like we just were caught in unfortunate circumstances that day.
keelyhealthnut Posted August 7, 2014 #6 Share Posted August 7, 2014 Can one of you tell me how much the entrance fee was for Punta Sur? I have seen so many numbers floating around and would like to get a concrete answer for budgeting purposes. Thank you!!
