Suggestions for hotel close to the Everglades

We want to travel to the Everglades (not Port Everglades) before our cruise. Any suggestions on places to stay close to the Everglades. I understand there is only one place within the Everglades to stay. Also anyone have suggestions on a good Air Boat tour?

Well I assume you're going to have a rental car so it really doesn't matter WHERE you stay. It's only a 30 minute drive from the Fort Lauderdale beach/Port Everglades area to the edge of the Everglades.
