fyrfyter Posted August 21, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 21, 2014 OK......so what's the deal with this mosquito borne disease called CHIKUNGUNYA? Up until this past season this disease afflicted a few dozen tourists in the general Caribbean area. Now it's blossomed into thousands of documented cases, largely in & around San Juan PR. There also have been cases documented in the northeast US, i.e. New York. There's no vaccine, no cure. The name CHIKUGUNYA means walking, bent over, in pain.....mostly in the joints and muscle. It's rarely fatal nut the symptoms can last from a week to 2-years !! I first read about this a few months ago on popular web sites like YAHOO, COMCAST, etc. But now............nothing. Has anyone else heard about this?
