In search of local food we ate at a cafe that advertised fish and chips.

DH ordered chili, he said to the waitress tell me the truth this is from a can and she said it was.

Thanks the Pearl is a great ship. I never heard anything until the early morning and it sounded like some dragging of chairs, but never enough to wake me up. We had lots of fog so the captain blew the horn a lot, but other than that no noise.

Thanks for the info alrichards! I'm really enjoying your photo review!

I was glad we went back to the ship, it was sunny but windy and I needed my jacket, which I did not wear earlier and though my boots were cute they were not made for walking so I changed shoes as well. We met on the end of the pier which was very close to the ship.

I enjoyed the tour, instead of stickers marking you part of the tour we each got a red and black garter. We were driven by the shuttle to the starting point and walked our way to the Red Onion Saloon

When on vacation and a couple of tours you are given so much information, one of the facts I retained was this building is the most photographed building in Alaska due to (7,000?) pieces of driftwood

We ended at the Red Onion Saloon and everyone was given a glass of champagne, but we did not sit but walked with the glasses, I did not get any pictures inside the saloon.

Back to the ship and Shakers

As with the Medusa sculpture, I also enjoyed sitting there and watching the bubbles in front of Shakers and the bubbles changing colors

We had never tried Teppanyaki, so instead of the Italian restaurant I booked Teppanyaki. It was very good, fast paced and entertaining.

We have stayed in all room categories from Inside to Suite, and sometimes it was just not worth the extra money to upgrade when we were rarely in the room, but in the case of the suite was worth every penny. However, this is the first cruise I felt the room was important based on the ports but more specifically Glacier Bay, it was nice being able to observe the glacier from our balcony.

Glacier Bay was one of our favorites, and I am glad we chose the Pearl which went to Glacier Bay whereas I believe the Jewel did not.

They delivered drinks to you as you watch the glacier, we both had the alaska plow hot chocolate and liqueurs in an NCL mug, it was great to drink the warm hot chocolate and watch the glacier

There was a naturalist and ranger onboard, the commentary could be heard over the loudspeaker, she said one of the ways to tell the presence of the glacier was to see ice floating in the water.

They had the latitudes party on the first sea day at 1, I was busy at that time, but they had a wine and cheese party at 6 on the glacier bay day

Glacier Bay was the combination of viewing the glaciers and a sea day. Bingo, art auction, casino, spa, etc.

Dinner in Indigo, again food was very good. Calamari:

Ketchikan is supposed to get twice the rain of Seattle, we had gorgeous weather the entire time and Ketchikan was no exception, our only problem was all of the fog. if I had to do it again, I would have done this tour later in the day to avoid the fog. A lot of people were doing 2 tours in Ketchikan, but I don't like to schedule that tightly.

My husband picked this excursion, I did not realize the entire tour would be on the boat (except bus to and from boat), but I found it very enjoyable and we saw a ton of bald eagles.
