lszu Posted May 6, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 6, 2004 I WISH I was boarding in three weeks. We've got a while to go, probably not cruising again until November (holding out for the Panama Canal). I'll have to live vicariously through you in the mean time! lszu Sovereign 7/99 Monarch 7/00 Vision 9/01 Voyager 9/02 Adventure 9/

HollyB Posted May 7, 2004 Author #9 Share Posted May 7, 2004 Jodi, we are twinning it! have a fab cruise. You too Shelia, you board on my birthday and wedding anniversary! Pat have a wonderful time and happy anniversary! Iszu...oh shame..dont worry time will fly by! Gayla and Jean..Don't worry, you two will need to put up with my packing dilemnas! Jean, yes it is good to think we are cruising without flying. We have done two mini cruises from here before but never a REAL cruise so we are so looking forward to it. The idea of being able to actually take our car right to the ship is amazing. Sadly, just wish it was Celebrity but never mind it will be lovely. RCI are now cruising from Southampton so might give them a try next summer. Did you know that one of the worlds TOP cruise lines is Scottish? Yes..it is! There is a small cruise company called Hebridean Island Cruises who have small five star ships. They cruise the Scottish Islands and apparently it is sheer luxury. Its MUCH more expensive though than going on a "normal" cruise. I just cant imagine Oban by cruise liner..can you Jean? Now and then we see it from here cruising the Solway heading for Arran and the Isles of Bute. V would love to do it..maybe one day. Dont think there would be much sun tanning on board though. Just cant imagine up top on deck going up the Clyde I guess though there would be some good "Choochter" music on board ha ha! Iz Posted May 7, 2004 #10 Share Posted May 7, 2004 HollyB - have a great time - wish ours was only 3 weeks away. Like you, can't imagine the appeal of a luxury cruise in Scotland - with a cloud of midges chasing the ship and sitting on your balcony in the haar with 3 fleeces on ! All the best.... seagulls Posted May 7, 2004 #11 Share Posted May 7, 2004 The last time I was home we did a cruise up Loch Lomand. The weather was gorgeous, 75 degrees, without a cloud in the sky. My husband said to me, the people on this steamer don't know how lucky they are to be seeing this scenery today. What he meant was the chance of it not raining or misty or damp are pretty slight. Scotland has some of the finest scenery in the world, I just wish the weather would live up to it.
marvholly Posted May 8, 2004 #12 Share Posted May 8, 2004 HollyB Have a greeat cruise. I know you are "stacked" with one booked for fall out of the USA to the carribean from a previous post. You were interested in getting a US hair dryer. I offered to shop & ship. Have you made a decision yet? My email is in my profile. I currently have nothing booked (got home 4/4/04). Also youngest daughter is getting married 7/05 so have to watch finances. Would like to take daughters & their SOs on a 7/more dayer to carribean (western or southern out of Florida) late this year or Alaska summer 05. However, since they are both teachers, available dates are limited and VERY pricey. Oh well, planning is half the fun. Holly M/S Boheme 11/69 Rhapsody 2/77?
