wr813 Posted October 29, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 29, 2014 So I know you can take a bottle of wine with you. What if someone would fill the wine bottle with rum or whatever and put top or cork back on bottle? Is that found by security?
firemanbobswife Posted October 29, 2014 #2 Share Posted October 29, 2014 Wine has to be carried on. If it's in your checked luggage it will be taken and if it's found to be open, thrown away. Sorry, can't help you on the other part.
bptex Posted October 29, 2014 #3 Share Posted October 29, 2014 It depends on how well the bottle is resealed. Security knows people do this and do check for it. If you have the means to replace a cork properly and can heat shrink a proper seal though they'd never know the difference.
Cruiseaholichal Posted October 29, 2014 #4 Share Posted October 29, 2014 "Wine" can't be in checked luggage at all--- you can try that using your carry-on though.
6fan Posted October 29, 2014 #5 Share Posted October 29, 2014 Just back from conquest. Heat shrink caps are available online. Security at scanner wanted to look at bottles but other security said I was good. Get darker bottles.
TheBubbs Posted October 29, 2014 #6 Share Posted October 29, 2014 I carry 2 bottles of wine in my laptop bag each cruise, not once have they inspected my bottles. However, nearly every time they looked at the bottles of water packs and diet coke cases.

bptex Posted October 30, 2014 #8 Share Posted October 30, 2014 Three cruises and have never found my "wine" just put in your carry on. I haven't found your's specifically but I have had my bag delivered with fresh red wine stains all over my clothes though. If you do pack it in carry on please make sure it's padded and sealed very well.

Especially since it sounds like you checked your luggage. . .
Out to sea! Posted October 31, 2014 #10 Share Posted October 31, 2014 Threads like this just reinforce the Walmart mentality of the average CCL cruiser.
CruizenSusan Posted October 31, 2014 #11 Share Posted October 31, 2014 I have seen luggage that was leaking because of broken wine bottles inside. The suitcases are stacked so high sometimes, it doesn't take much to break those bottles. We always carry our wine on board.
beta98beta Posted October 31, 2014 #12 Share Posted October 31, 2014 (edited) I carry 2 bottles of wine in my laptop bag each cruise, not once have they inspected my bottles. However, nearly every time they looked at the bottles of water packs and diet coke cases. How true! Never ONCE have they checked my wine, but they never fail to check my water! Last year one water bottle I opened, took a sip and then put it back with the others and they noticed the seal was broken on it and wanted me to pull it out and throw it away.. I was like really??? So I stood there and finished drinking it instead... how silly... and by the way, I don't drink or smuggle on hard liquor so I find the over inspection of water over the top..
