"Once Upon A Time" child participation on FOS?!?

Recommended Posts

Hello! We are sailing on FOS the week of Thanksgiving - I was perusing the Daily planners for the kid's club and something caught my eye that I hadn't ever seen before. There was a little callout for kids that want to participate in the production show Once Upon A Time on day 5 with the Royal Caribbean Singers & Dancers.

Does anyone here have a child that has done this before? I would love to know what kind of parts/how much stage time they get? Is it an afternoon show or an evening performance? Does every kid that signs up get to be in it?

My 7 year old daughter has just joined drama club at school an is auditioning for a part in the play this year - she would just FLIP at the chance to be on a big stage like that with a "real" audience. I don't want to even bring it up though, if there is some kind of a catch or a downside (like if it takes place during a time that we would likely be on an excursion or something like that.)

Thanks for any info ~ :)

We have seen them bring maybe three or four children on stage right at the beginning of the show. They sit down in front of the huge story book prop and the actress starts to tell them a story. Then they actually go 'into' the story book. After that they are escorted back to their parents. Unless they have changed something, there is no acting involved at all. Just a few kids sitting there listening to a story, then exiting through the prop.

Thank you for the info! That's kinda what I figured, like "extras" on a movie set. I think she would still get such a kick out of being a part of the show - getting to be backstage and even the few minutes of stage time and I'm sure a round of applause - that would probably make her vacation!

We will be signing up for this for sure!

My girls were part of the show when we were on Freedom, back in 2007. They signed up in the kids club the day before, for the evening show. To be clear, there is NO acting involved. They walk out on the stage, sit down, are sung to, and then "climb" into the book. After that, they were brought out to join us at our seats to watch the end of the show. They really had a good time and the staff were wonderful with them.
