Duty free shops on Voyager for 3 nighter

Hi, can we expect the duty free shops to be open on the Voyager of the Seas on a 3 night cruise to nowhere? If they will be open what type of duty free items/ shops will be available. Thanks:)

Once they are outside the legal distance limit, the shops will open. They have things like cigarettes, liquor, jewelry, watches, clothing, souvenir items, etc.

There was a 3-night Bahamas cruise when Sandy hit that ended up being a cruise to nowhere. If I remember the thread correctly, since the ship never docked anywhere outside of the U.S., they didn't need to clear customs or declare anything when they got back.

While the shops will be open outside limit, alcohol and tobacco will not be for sale as it is not going to another country.

They both were for sale on the cruise I referenced.

Yours was in the US with a scheduled international stop.

 

The ones referred to here are "to nowhere" i.e. no scheduled international stop. Hence the restrictions apply.

How does the duty free work on one of these cruises?

 

If I buy something from the shop (i.e alcohol / tobacco), can I consume it on board, or does it get stored until we arrive back at the port?

There is no duty free alcohol or tobacco for sale on cruises to nowhere ex Australian ports. That shop will be closed
