Embarkation Process

Could someone please explain how the embarkation works for Quantum? What do you do first, next, etc. until you actually are on the ship? Once on, can you go immediately to your stateroom? Thanks!

And how long to go thru security?

Well, I was on the maiden voyage but I think we may have been the messy exception. It was pretty chaotic when I arrived. We first stood on a line to go through security, after that point you either went to the check in desk or a floating RCl staff member with a tablet. Then we got on line to take our embarkation photo and take the gangplank. Once on the ship we took a security photo then we were free. Yes, rooms were ready and we were allowed to go straight to them and drop off our things.

Security was a wait for us because they were backed up on the other side and choose to hold up the line until they cleared out some additional people on the other end. I would say maybe 20 minutes. I think the entire process from arrival to we got on the ship was about an hour- to an hour and a half. Hopefully it will be much faster for future sailings.

Thanks, queenL. If we have already uploaded a picture, would we go directly onto the ship after check-in at the counter or with the "floater" with the tablet?

It depends if the uploaded picture was good enough and they have it (you may have uploaded it but if they can't get it on their tablet at checkin they take another). In Southampton the RCI floaters with tablets were on both sides of security so it depends on which one you get. After security and if your setsail pass is stamped (after checkin at counter or floater) then, yes, you go on the ship. Availability of cabin will still be after 1PM at which time you just go there to get your first seacard which is in an envelope on the door sign of your cabin.
