best time to book a future cruise?

I hear a lot of talk about Early Saver pricing, or advanced pricing, or onboard pricing....

when is the best time to book and who to I figure out what rate that is?

We always book Early Saver as you get price drops up until 2 days before sailing, however there are penalties for changing/cancelling reservations on Early Saver.

You can book onboard the ship, and as a "perk" you then get some on board credit (the amount depends on the type of cabin and length of sailing)....or you can wait and book during a sale when on board credit is offered as well.

We have always booked very far out (like a year and a half) before the cruises (when many of the bookings open) start to fill up. By booking so far out, we get the choice of picking the exact cabin (as most are available at that point in time), and we have found the prices are generally about as low as they go. However, by booking Early Saver, that doesn't matter, because we are able to take advantage of all price drops until the bitter end anyhow.

Hope this helps you a little!
