Taxi to Mr. Sanchos

About $17+tip for up to 4 in the cab - so pair up with another couple from your roll call.

Taxi prices will be posted on a sign near the taxi line, but it never hurts to confirm the fare with your driver BEFORE you get into the cab.

Cabs in Coz are fairly well regulated - unlike Philadelphia!

Cozumel cabs don't use meters.

There are signs at the pier that tell you what the fare is. Read it, and then tell the taxi driver that is what you expect to pay! Always confirm before you get in, and refuse to get in a taxi if they are overcharging. Generally you can't get a 'better' rate though. (But if there are only 2 of you, share the cab with other people if you can, prices are per cab, not per person)

It is a personal option, but I don't tip when paying in dollars; just when paying in pesos. The exchange rate is now over 14:1. Taxi's exchange at 10:1. To me, they build in their tip based on that exchange rate! (Most places in town were at least 12:1!) Locals also will say to not tip taxi's unless the driver provides an extra service (like unloading bags, or buckling in a car seat)
