pizzaman1343 Posted January 12, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 12, 2015 We have a block of midship cabins around 8269 in 5 weeks. Does anyone who has sailed recently know where on the ship the AC problems start if they still have problems? Also, can you make reservations in advance for Steakhouse? BigB0882 Posted January 12, 2015 #3 Share Posted January 12, 2015 I am also curious about which area of rooms seemed to be hot. My husband and I am thinking about sailing on Dream in April. I just went on my very first cruise right before Christmas and I really enjoyed it. I suppose you could say I am already addicted since I immediately began looking for an excuse to cruise again. When/If we book, I want to have an idea of which rooms and areas to avoid. We both sleep with the air quite cold at home and I know we would be miserable with it being hot at night. So thanks in advance to anyone who shares what room they had and whether or not it was hot.

CimW Posted January 13, 2015 #5 Share Posted January 13, 2015 I don't know if this helps. We were on the Dream last July in cabin 8271 and our A/C worked really good. It was very hot outside! As for cabin 8271 it was alright, you can search the forum for my mini review of the cabin itself. Cabin 8271 on the Dream
BigB0882 Posted January 13, 2015 #6 Share Posted January 13, 2015 (edited) Was that cabin an interior, exterior or balcony? We haven't decided between a balcony and just a room with a window. We know we don't want interior, feels way too cramped. Since our cruise on Dream would be 7 days, we think a balcony may be worth the extra money considering we have much more time on this cruise than the quick trip we had on Elation. Also, we are going on this cruise with just the two of us and no friends so we may have more down time where we would be in the room and have use of the balcony. Last time we had some friends with us and we spent the entire time doing stuff on the ship, only going to the room for a quick nap and at night for bed. It seems that a lot of the people who had problems had a balcony room. So that kind of worries me. Edited January 13, 2015 by BigB0882
CimW Posted January 13, 2015 #7 Share Posted January 13, 2015 8271 is a balcony. I really liked the location of 8271. Everything was fine with the cabin but...the cleaning supplies in the hallway by our door got old. We were close to the atrium elevators, it seemed that most of what we did was right there by those elevators going down(dining room, casino, shops, pictures, showroom). I say book a balcony! CimW Posted January 13, 2015 #8 Share Posted January 13, 2015 BigB0882---> You are new to cruising. Sometime you need to book an aft wrap balcony.. I think they are suites on some ships. They are pricey but they are awesome! Only have had one and it was the best cabin ever! Keep that in mind for a future cruise :D
Royalsfan69 Posted January 13, 2015 #9 Share Posted January 13, 2015 we just got off the Dream sunday and we had room 10263 balcony and our AC was working great had to turn it down because it got COLD.
BigB0882 Posted January 13, 2015 #10 Share Posted January 13, 2015 we just got off the Dream sunday and we had room 10263 balcony and our AC was working great had to turn it down because it got COLD. Great news. I don't know if any of these rooms will be available when we book but if a room is nearby then I can probably assume it also gets good AC. I really appreciate people sharing their cabin numbers and how the AC worked. Thanks for taking the time.
meeda00 Posted January 14, 2015 #11 Share Posted January 14, 2015 We were in room 6461 Aft this past October and the room was not hot, but not cold either. I was glad I brought a fan.
Yazoo cruiser Posted January 14, 2015 #12 Share Posted January 14, 2015 We were on the Dream four times last year and going again March 1st. We were on Vista deck once, Main deck twice and had another I can't remember. We also had friends and family traveling with us and none of us had any problems at all. I love it COLD and no problems at all. Hope you have a great cruise. Almost forgot, we had oceanview twice and balconys twice, no interior. cruse2loose Posted January 15, 2015 #13 Share Posted January 15, 2015 You can ask your room steward for a fan and they will bring you one. I was on Dream 4 times last year, always asked for & got a fan
BigB0882 Posted January 15, 2015 #14 Share Posted January 15, 2015 I think we have narrowed down our choice to a cove balcony which are the rooms in the 2000s. Hopefully none of those are rooms with problems with the AC.
Gon2hwe Posted January 15, 2015 #15 Share Posted January 15, 2015 Being from the south we always learned during the hottest part of the day to keep your drapes closed. Espescially if the sun is shining directly on your side. You'd be surprised how much this helps. If you have an inside then can't help you there. beta98beta Posted January 15, 2015 #16 Share Posted January 15, 2015 I was just on for new years but we were on main deck... no issues there at all, perfect temperature during the day, chilly at night, but used the bathrobe as an extra blanket and was fine

Hopefully none of those are rooms with problems with the AC. We were in 2275 in September and it was too warm but some cabins were cold not far away. We are in 2294 next month and I am hoping it will be cooler.
Sherryleea Posted January 15, 2015 #18 Share Posted January 15, 2015 Balcony cabin 7338 was super cold in November. It was a great spot, convenient and quiet.
hate2shop Posted January 15, 2015 #19 Share Posted January 15, 2015 Pizzaman1343 If you search this forum there are a few very long threads that discuss exact cabin numbers of rooms with a/c issues. Most of the problems seemed to be aft or interior rooms. After reading numerous postings I decided to book a forward balcony hoping to avoid problems. Just use that search forum button at the top and type in a/c Dream and a lot of good info will pop up. You can also enter your cabin number. Joatmon Posted January 16, 2015 #20 Share Posted January 16, 2015 I just got off on 1/11 and we had 8315, 8309, and 8311 and they was all good. But if you like it real cold it will not happen but we was all good we did not sweat.
BigB0882 Posted January 18, 2015 #21 Share Posted January 18, 2015 Apologies for using this thread to post a question but the board is not currently allowing me to start new threads, I can't even find the button. Must be having a glitch. I have a question about Open Dining on the Dream. Two of us are going. Will we have the option of sitting at our own table or will we have to sit with others? I am really introverted so sitting with total strangers is awkward for me. If they have tables for two, it would be nice to know we can get one of those, even if there is a little wait. You should not have a problem. My DH and I sat at a table for two each evening. Just ask the first night and they usually remember and will ask you each night if you still wish for the table for two. If not, just ask again. Enjoy Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
NJsharon Posted January 26, 2015 #24 Share Posted January 26, 2015 Dream balcony question. We have booked 8D balcony cabin on the Dream. Is there a fridge in there does anyone know? If there is, is it a teeny fridge with bar stuff in it? Or is it a fridge we can use? Thanks!
