We rented a Jeep just outside the terminal gates when we were there in February this year. We only paid $65.00 US for the whole day and the Jeep was brand new. I have the name & number for the company it's

Try the following, and don't rent a car at the airport, rent at the pier. The airport is 30-45 minutes away from the pier, longer if the bridge is up.

We rented a van for $60 a day and they were great. Had to pick up car away from pier, but not to far. I enjoyed having a car to tour the island.

Just remember that ship time is different from island time (they are 1 hour ahead) I reserved a car and when I showed up (booth at the pier even) I was told that since I didn't arrive when I booked it for (an hour earlier) they gave my car away.................which bugged me since they SAW the ship docking and didn't figure out that I wasn't even on the island yet.......so reserve accordingly!

At the end of the Pier is National, Avis, Budget... Etc.. And lots of local companies as well. We rented a Kia Jeep for $ 50.00 for the day ..

 

With map in hand we hit a few beaches and a few restaurants.. It was great..

We reserved a jeep wrangler for St. Martin next week and it was $65 for the day. I took the insurance through Travelex for $9/day with no deductible. The reservation is through SMX and Best Deal Car rental is the car rental company.

I have an Explorer reserved with Avis at the pier location for Oct. The total cost including all taxes and CDW is US $107. Hope this helps. One thing to keep in mind is that the lesser expensive cars go first. If that's what you're planning, reserve one early.

We didn't book in advance. We just got off the ship and headed to the car rental area. We ended up with a RAV4 for $65 for the entire day through Budget. Quick, easy and painless.
