sej67 Posted February 28, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 28, 2015 My passport expires June 1, 2016, which of course is effectively Dec. 1 of this year. So is it best to get it renewed prior to Dec. 1, between Dec. 1 and June 1, or sometime after June 1? I have no trips planned for now.
EagleRockers Posted February 28, 2015 #2 Share Posted February 28, 2015 Don't let your passport lapse, it will cost you more money. If you have no trips planned, I would start the renewal process in April 2016 and you should get a new passport by June 1, 2016. I did exactly the same thing in 2014. Phxazzcruisers Posted March 1, 2015 #3 Share Posted March 1, 2015 Definitely get it down as soon as you can. You never know when you might need it and it does not make sense to wait.
jamessemaj Posted March 1, 2015 #4 Share Posted March 1, 2015 (edited) For many visas and entries, 6 months remaining on the passport is required. Not having such a trip planned, I would renew between Dec and June. If there were such an entry requirement planned, of course it would be essential to renew before Dec. pauleydm Posted March 2, 2015 #5 Share Posted March 2, 2015 It is less expensive and easier to renew before your passport expires.
