Winston Wolf Posted April 7, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 7, 2015 Hi everyone, From the sounds of it, visiting the Baths is the must do thing when visiting Tortolla. If we're in port with two other ships (total of around 9000 pax) will the baths be a complete circus? Anyone else there with big cruise ship crowds that can speak to this? I know the flow to Virgin Gorda will be somewhat controlled by the availability of transport out there, but if even 10% of passengers try to get there, that's nearly 1000 people crowding the baths. Any thoughts here?
blue_water Posted April 7, 2015 #2 Share Posted April 7, 2015 We've only been to the Baths while on land vacations and obviously go when ships are not in port. So yes we would expect quite a crowd there on a heavy ship day and it's not the same experience when there are too many people. Having said that, you can also get a feel for what ferry each cruise ship excursion to the Baths is on and try to time your visit. Or even if you just take the earliest ferry over and arrive at the Top of the Baths and see a crowd, if time allows you could walk to Spring Bay and stay there for a bit then return. Spring Bay, although not as dramatic, has a similar topography as the Baths. Or you could have a driver take you on a mini-tour to see Savannah Bay and the mine and then hit the Baths. Taxi drivers are also very well informed on the times the crowds come and go and can be a great source.
