We're cruising here in early October. My kids will be 3 and 6. I'm thinking of Playa Mia for the day-any experiences with that? And what's the best way to get there? Through the cruise ship, the excursion is almost $300 which seems crazy IMO! Any other ideas are welcomed!

You can book Playa Mia on your own and take a cab there - fare should be about $16-17 each way. You will need to bring a car seat for the 3-year old and maybe for the 6-year old. I would tip the driver an extra $$ for the time spent installing and uninstalling car seats.

I would also look at Paradise Beach - same cab fare and no kiddie water park, but a HUGE pool, nice beach, great facilities, etc. $3 admission/char rental. Should be much cheaper, but then it is not AI like Playa Mia.

Good luck! :)
