bearone Posted July 5, 2015 #1 Share Posted July 5, 2015 Hi, We live in Australia and I am planning a cruise with my 17 year old son on Explorer of the Seas sailing in Australian waters. He turns 18 years on the cruise which is the legal drinking age normally whilst cruising over here. Is he able to drink the day he turns 18(mid way through the cruise)or do RCCL consider him under age until completion of the cruise ?? Any help would be appreciated . Thanks in advance. setsail Posted July 5, 2015 #2 Share Posted July 5, 2015 "For purposes of complying with the minimum drinking age requirements, a guest’s age is established upon boarding at the beginning of the cruise vacation. If a guest celebrates their birthday during the cruise vacation, and thereby becomes of age to consume alcohol, the guest may thereafter ask the Guest Services Manager to modify ship’s records to permit their consumption of alcohol during the remainder of the vacation. The guest will be required to appear at Guest Services to present a valid government-issued form of identification to permit verification of their age. cruisingsince94 Posted July 5, 2015 #3 Share Posted July 5, 2015 According to the RCI website the age at the start of the cruise determines age for that cruise. It also mentions that for someone turning legal age while on the cruise, a parent and the person in question can go to guest services on their birthday with proper documentation (birth certificate) and have them update their status for the remainder of the cruise.
